Junior Guide from Our Ecology #3: Kate Newby, Asad Raza

2024.2.1 [Thu]

Inside the Our Ecology exhibition, we have set up Junior Guide panels that introduce key points to enjoy the exhibited works.
The exhibition is divided into four chapters, and we’d introduce two works on display in Chapter 4: The Future Is within Us this time around.
There are a total of 13 Junior Guide panels; visit the exhibition and explore the other ones in the galleries.

FIRE!!!!!!!

Looking at the floor, you will find pebbles, glass balls, and pieces of metal buried in the ground. Kate embedded objects that had fallen onto the streets between Roppongi and Ginza in this articial marble, creating a beautiful new ground for everyone to walk on. The blue fabric hanging from the ceiling was dyed at an indigo dyeing workshop in Ome City, Tokyo. It looks like a blue sky that harmonizes with the yellow floor.

Komorebi (Dappled Sunlight)

On his first visit to the Mori Art Museum, Asad discovered that the skylight screen in the gallery had no longer been open for a long time.
He saw the skyscraper of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower as a body, and wanted to heal its wounds and let the sun shine through this skylight once again. Wooden scaffolding was erected so that these repairs could be performed, and a Shinto ritual was held to pray for its rebirth.
Imagine the magnificent solar system and the movement of planet Earth in this beautifully lit gallery during the day.
