MAMC members-only event: MAMC Night Photo Report
Special Gallery Tour of "Lee Mingwei and His Relations" with Miyatsu Daisuke & Kataoka Mami

On Tuesday, November 25, 2014, the final individual MAMC members event of the year, MAMC Night, was held. The event took the form of a Special Gallery Tour of "Lee Mingwei and His Relations" with invited guest, art collector Miyatsu Daisuke, and Mori Art Museum Chief Curator Kataoka Mami.

Miyatsu Daisuke is a "salaryman collector," an art collector who also works as a company employee. He is extremely well-versed in contemporary art, having staged an exhibition of works from his own collection in Taipei among other things, and in his talk he shared with participants many fascinating anecdotes on a range of topics including his own unique approach to viewing exhibitions and his thoughts on individual artworks.

A scene from the Special Gallery Tour

During the gallery tour, Miyatsu and Kataoka, who have known each other for a long time, hardly stopped talking, leaving members nodding their heads, taking notes and listening intently to the two old acquaintances. Things went so well that the event went on considerably longer than the scheduled one hour.

As well, by special arrangement, the participatory projects The Mending Project, The Living Room and Sonic Blossom were staged as part of MAMC Night.
We are currently seeking reactions and comments from MAMC members who participated in these projects, so if you would like to contribute please refer to the article here.

As part of Fabric of Memory, a host talked to MAMC members while mending fabric items they had brought with them.

Items brought by members became part of the installation and were exhibited for the duration of the exhibition.

By special arrangement, Sonic Blossom, in which a singer performs Lieder by Franz Schubert, was staged during the event.

For The Living Room, three MAMC members who acted as volunteers during the exhibition played the roles of hosts. The Living Room became a place where members could mix with each other over the course of the evening, resulting in a broadening of their "relations."

The convivial discussions continued up until the closing time of 10pm.

Due to the temporary closure of the Mori Art Museum from January 5, 2015, the next MAMC Night will take the form of an event outside the museum. More details will be available shortly!
