Ron Mueck Art Camp Vol. 15 “Writing an ‘I’ Poem” (Two-day Program)
Ron Mueck Related Program
Conducted in Japanese
Art Camp is a program for 13-22 year olds to think about contemporary art in a third place that is neither school nor home. We are hosting a two-day poetry-writing workshop featuring poet Koiso Hiromitsu, who contributed poems to the “Poetry and Coloring Notebook” —a junior guide for the Ron Mueck exhibition.
On the first day, you will explore various forms of poetic expression and write a poem introducing yourself. Later, you will view the Ron Mueck exhibition and then write a poem based on the impressions his work evokes in you.
On the second day, you will refine your poem with Mr. Koiso and participate in a poetry reading session(*) within the exhibition venue.
Why not experience the joy of putting your feelings and impressions into words through the free medium of poetry, all while experiencing Ron Mueck’s work up close?
* The reading session will take place within the exhibition venue but is open only to program participants.
Message from the Artist
In this workshop, we will write poetry while exploring the mysterious connection between “self” and “that which is not self.” No prior experience with writing poetry is necessary. Let’s take our time and enjoy the movement of words.

About “Art Camp”
Over the years, Mori Building Company and the Mori Art Museum have collaborated with artists from across the globe to run a variety of programs at the Museum and out on the streets. Summer 2018 saw the launch of a new “Art Camp” program targeting younger art-lovers; giving them the opportunity to discuss “contemporary art” with artists and curators in a different environment from the usual school format of “teacher” and “taught,” employing the Museum and entire Roppongi Hills neighborhood as a canvas. Talking with others encourages participants to think about current happenings at home or school, historical events, social, political and cultural developments in the wider world, and the connection of all these with contemporary art, helping them to explore interesting and enjoyable aspects of contemporary art.
