The Special Website for the Global Art Professionals Development Project Is Now Open!
2025.9.26 [Fri]
The Mori Art Museum is engaged in the “Global Art Professionals Development Project,” which aims to foster mid-career and young curators active in Japan. This project is as part of the “Support Program for Cultural Facilities Function Enhancement” funded by a foundation established at the Japan Arts Council through subsidies from the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
This project is developed along two main axes: 1) the “Sou Fujimoto Exhibition Project" targeting the curators and coordinators in charge of The Architecture of Sou Fujimoto: Primordial Future Forest exhibition currently on view at the Mori Art Museum, and 2) the “Global Curatorship Program” targeting Mori Art Museum curators as well as mid-career and emerging curators from outside the museum.
As part of this “Global Curatorship Program,” we will conduct the international symposium “Building Architectural Curation” and the curatorial workshop “Anatomy of Architectural Curation.”
The curatorial workshop targets mid-career and emerging architects, curators, and researchers involved in architectural exhibitions. Through learning the knowledge and theories required for planning and implementing architectural exhibitions and building networks both domestically and internationally, the workshop aims to cultivate professionals who can be internationally active in the field of architectural curation. The four-day program will invite world-renowned architectural curators and directors as guest lecturers. Through lectures, group discussions, and the creation and critique of exhibition plans envisioning international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale of Architecture, participants will conduct critical re-examination of their own architectural curation and aim to develop their projects toward more advanced curatorial practice.
The “Global Curatorship Program” for fiscal year 2026 is planned to focus on “contemporary art.”
The special website for the development project is now open:

The symposium entitled “Building Architectural Curation” will bring together internationally-active directors and curators specializing in architecture to introduce the latest trends and ideas in the curation of architectural exhibitions, a topic rarely discussed in Japan. Sou Fujimoto will also be speaking, so please be sure to register.
