Learning Camp 001 “Encouragement of Socially Engaged Art”

Conducted in Japanese

The field known as Socially Engaged Art (SEA), which incorporates artists deeply committed to social issues, is gaining wide attention across the world. Prior to the opening of exhibition “A New Wave of Art for Social Change: Socially Engaged Art” at 3331 Arts Chiyoda, its main organizers - three figures that translated Pablo Helguera’s Education for Socially Engaged Art - unfold the rise and growth of SEA through the introduction of a variety of domestic and international cases. Matters dealing with engagement between art and society such as goal awareness, methods of communication and collaboration, supportive frameworks, issues on archiving and evaluation, will be shared openly.
